Step 1: Prep the Chicken.
Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, coat the chicken with cornflour to ensure an even coating.
Step 2: Make the Seasoned Coating.
In a separate bowl, mix the crushed cornflakes with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Coat the Chicken.
Dip each chicken piece into the whisked egg, then into the cornflake mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Repeat until all the chicken is coated.
Step 4: Cook the Chicken.
Place the coated chicken in an air fryer and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 8 minutes. Flip the chicken pieces and cook for another 7-10 minutes until golden and crispy. If you’re using an oven, bake at the same temperature for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Step 5: Prepare the Sauce.
While the chicken is cooking, combine the BBQ sauce, honey, water, hot sauce, and tomato purée in a small pan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
Step 6: Coat the Chicken.
Once the chicken is cooked, toss it in the warm honey BBQ sauce until evenly coated.
Step 7: Serve and Enjoy.
Serve the Honey BBQ Popcorn Chicken hot with your favorite sides!
